Cookham Dean Cricket Club News story

WEEKEND ROUND-UP

21 Jul 2009

The first team went a sixth consecutive league outing without a win as they held on to claim a draw against high-flying Chalfont St Peter. Chalfont batted first and racked up 248 for 7, Pres Patel and Chris Nunn each claiming two wickets. First team debutant Aaron O'Donoghue took 1-26 from 8 overs.

In response Cookham's batting never really got going against the canny operating of S.Din who took 3-28 from 16 overs. Only Chris Nunn got the better of the Chalfont attack as he continued his form from last week with a fine innings of 91 not out. Cookham eventually held on for the draw, ending on 192-9.

The 2nds slumped to a shock defeat at home to Newbury 2s. Richard Bibby continued his fine season with 6-57 as Newbury were bowled out for 191. The Cookham top order were shot out quickly in response and despite a first 50 of the season from Shaun Glover fell 11 runs short on 180.

The 3rds cruised to a comfortable victory over Marlow 3s. Cookham batted first and made 236-9 from their 40 overs. Andy Murdoch top scored with 43, while Andy Millar and Bertie Kennedy also made useful contributions. This was always to prove too much for Marlow and Paul Taylor quickly removed the top order with support from Andy Partridge. Taylor eventually finished with 4-16 from 7 overs. Marlow eventually finished well short as they bowled out for 130.
