LEAGUE SEASON OFF TO A FLYER!

10 May 2009

Both CDCC sides picked up comfortable wins yesterday, giving them a fantastic start to the TVL season.

The First team were away to Reading 3s and pulled off a comprehensive victory. Reading batted first and Pres and Amit Patel quickly reduced them to 25-5. The lower order managed a fightback to reach 141 with Amit taking 5-40 from 15 overs. Sav Gandesha was caught behind early on in Cookham's response but after that they had no trouble in chasing down Reading's score. George Edlin struck 83 not out from 56 balls while Ben Millar made 39 not out as Cookham claimed a nine wicket victory. By the end of the game, the Reading players seemed more interested in watching the Homes Counties Div 1 clash between Reading and Beaconsfield on the other pitch.

The 2nds picked up a six wicket win against newly promoted side Harefield 3s. Harfield batted first and O'Donoghue and Bibby quickly ripped out the top order. The lower middle order began a recovery before Mark Fish pulled off a fantasic run out. Petley provided the main resistence with 59 but Mike Cutting eventually cleaned up the tail. Cookham's reply started slowly with Fish and Arun Brar in watchful mood. The run rate began to accelerate eventually however with Fish making his first CDCC 50 and receiving some useful support from Farnborough. Fish eventually finished on 73 not out as side won with plenty of overs to spare.
