The Thames Valley League season finally kicks off on Saturday and both Cookham sides will be looking to push on after a successful first season last year.

The Firsts travel to Reading to face their 3rd team but will start life in Division 3B without key players Imran Butt and Clive Lambden. Chris Nunn and Tom Rosenthal are also missing. This hands a chance to teenage batting duo Rory Millar and Jake Richardson while Nick Borland makes his first 1st XI league appearance since 2007. The side is: Ben Millar, Sav Gandesha, George Edlin, Tom Bibby, Jake Richardson, Rory Millar, Dave Brooks, Pres Patel, Christian Austin, Amit Patel, Nick Borland.

The 2nds host promoted side Harefield 3s at Ricketts Field on Saturday and look to have a strong looking lineup as they seek promotion in Richard Bibby's first year in charge. Their side includes Mike Maroudas for the first time since July last year while Aaron O'Donoghue is set for his league debut.

They line up like this: Richard Bibby, Shaun Glover, Guy Glover, Mark Fish, Rob Mettler, Aaron O'Donoghue, Andy Pett, Arun Brar, Mike Cutting, Paul Farnborough, Mike Maroudas.
