FIRST TEAM END POOR RUN WHILST SECONDS DRAW

05 Aug 2008

The First team finally picked up a win after six successive defeats as they claimed a four wicket victory after relegation favourites Baghshot 2s. After a delayed start, Cookham bowled the visitors out for 122 with Chris Nunn claiming brilliant figures of 7-36 from 16 overs. Cookham's out of form batsmen struggled once again and at 19-4 victory seemed unlikely. Clive Lambden (33) and Imran Butt (60 not out) however pushed the Dean on towards victory and they eventually won by 4 wickets with Sav Gandesha scoring the winning runs. This leaves the 1sts still in 6th place in TVL Division 4A, yet they are only 16 points away from top spot in a remarkably tight division.

The 2nds put in a brilliant performance at high-flying Ruislip but ultimately came away with a draw. Ollie Freeman top scored with 45 as Cookham scored 148 from their 45 overs. Richard Bibby bowled a mammoth spell for the Dean and took two wickets with support from Nick Borland, Ian Frankland, Andy Pett and Mike Cutting. It was not to be however as Ruislip finished 122-9 from their 41 overs. The 2nds remain in 6th with their slim promotion chances all but over.
