TWO WINS AND ONE DEFEAT ON SUNDAY

28 Jul 2008

The Sunday 1sts cruised to a ten wicket win against Taplow after bowling them out for just over 100. Ben Millar struck a half-century while Rob Mettler finished 40odd not out. Earlier on, Imran Butt and Christian Austin had torn into the Taplow top order leaving their innings in tatters and 30odd-8.

At Beaconsfield, a young Cookham side destroyed Chalfont St Peter by 9 wickets with just over 16 overs to go. Mike Knowles -Leak claimed two wickets, while there were also useful bowling spells from Aaron O'Donoghue, Charlie Bond and Arun Brar. Sawan Gandesha also claimed two wickets at the end as Chalfont made 185 for 9 from their 40 overs. It could have been a much lower score had it not been for the hard-hitting of Webb (38) down the order. A Cookhan victory was never in doubt as Gandesha and Tom Wells-Cole dispatched the bowling with ease. Gandesha was eventually run out for 39, bringing Paul Farnborough to the crease. He and Wells-Cole shared a stand of 70 in 5 overs as he finished on 44 not out while Wells-Cole made 76 not out.

The home side lost by 6 wickets to Jordans Taverners with 9 overs to spare...
