B.A TOO STRONG FOR DEAN

28 Jul 2008

The two Saturday sides comfortably came out second best against strong British Airways outfits at the weekend.

The first team were away and after a slow start managed to post a competitive 220-8 from their 52 overs. Dave Brooks top scored with a half-century and Amit Patel made a useful contribution down the order with 30odd not out. This was never likely to be enough and British Airways comfortably won by seven wickets with plenty of time to spare, the Dean left to rue a series of dropped catches. This is the First team's third defeat in a row yet remarkably they still have hopes of promotion in the tight 4A league table.

The seconds lost by five wickets at Ricketts Field to top of the table B.A 2nds. After being put in, Cookham made a solid start with Ollie Freeman, Arun Brar, Paul Farnborough, Andy Murdoch and Andy Pett all making decent scores. No-one went on however and the home side eventually limped to a below-par 202 all out from their overs. The canny spin bowling of Prassad claimed six wickets for B.A. The B.A openers slogged their way out of the blocks leaving the Cookham bowlers shell-shocked and making a victory charge increasingly unlikely. Wickets did however start to fall and Richard Bibby finished the pick of the bowlers with 3-49.This was not enough however and B.A won with more than 15 overs to spare.
