Cookham Dean Cricket Club News story

WEEKEND TEAM NEWS

25 Jul 2008

An out of form 1st team make one change to the side that was beaten by both OMT and Slough 3s in the last couple of weeks. Rory Millar moves back up from the 2nd team in place of Tom Rosenthal who is at 'Global Gathering'. The opposition, British Airways, lie one place below Cookham in the tight Division 4A table. This is a big game and a win here will leave the 1st team well placed ahead of fixtures against the bottom two sides, Chalfont St Peter and Bagshot.

The 2nds make four enforced changes to the side that beat Royal Ascot comfortably. Rory Millar moves up to the 1st team while skipper Shaun Glover, Mike Cutting and Jake Richardson are all unavailable. Mark Fish captains the side in Shaun's absence. Jonathan Gay returns to the side and there are also welcome returns for Andy Murdoch, Simon D'Ardenne and Ollie Freeman. Despite having important players missing, the 2nd team still looks a strong side. British Airways 2nds are currently top and have won nine of their eleven games so far this season. A win here might open the door to a late charge for promotion for the 2nds.

On Sunday, the 1sts travel to Taplow with Tom Bibby skippering the side with Mike Cutting away.

Once again there are three sides out this Sunday and Andrew Millar captains the home side against Jordans Taverners. Last season's game against them saw an easy victory with Tom Rosenthal filling his boots with a hundred. This year's game sees a first game of the season for both Jim Rosenthal and Andy Fox. The top order looks strong with Dave Brooks, Rory Millar and Jake Richardson all there and there is also a senior debut for Under 13 Noah Sharples.

The other fixture sees the Dean take on Chalfont St Peter. Last year Cookham lost by 1 run to Chalfont so they will be looking to put this right this time around. The top order looks solid with Simon D'Ardenne, Sav Gandesha and Paul Farnborough keen to score heavily and there are plenty of seam bowling options with Mike Knowles-Leak, Jamie Andrews, Charlie Bond and CDCC debutant Aaron O'Donoghue in the side.
