COLONEL GARRETT A SUCCESS ONCE AGAIN

21 Jul 2008

The annual charity six-a-side tournament was held at Ricketts Field yesterday and proved to be a success once again. With twelve teams split into four groups of three, there was entertaining cricket throughout the day with regular cricketers and non-cricketers enjoying themselves. The semi-finals saw perrenial challengers Maliks take on ICA Stumpys and the Jolly Farmer clash with the Football Club. Both semis were slightly one-sided as the newcomers Stumps pulled off something of a giant killing while the Jolly Farmer joined them in the final.

The final got off to the worst possible start for the Jolly as Tom Bibby was bowled first ball of the match. They never really recovered from this and the youthful bowling attack of Stumpys prevented them from posting a seriously competitive score. Stumpys ultimately cruised to victory with five balls to spare.
