05 Jul 2011

This friday (8/7/2011) brings about a historical day at the Dean, the U 17s have the potential to join the ranks of great Cookham Dean U17s sides by leading the new generation into the county cup semi finals with a victory over Royal Ascot. The side are very confident following 3/3 wins so far, with impressive displays in all 3 showings. The victories have shown that the Dean have the fighting spirit required to go all the way and the never say die attitude has been instilled by the management of Jon Gay and Arun Brar. Cdcc.co.uk gained exclusive access to the captain of the team Patrick Castleden and got a little interview with him: 'Well, its been a good run, a run I hope we can keep on going with. Our batting has shown depth throughout all 3 games and we have been very tight with our bowling. The one thing that has stood out, is the lack of boundaries we have given away so far, throughout the 3 games so far, we have been very good in the field and constrained the amount of runs that opponents have got over us.'

The side is a mixture of big hitters such as Big Bertie, Paddy and Alex Wooley mixed with pure shot makers such as Ben Green and Isaac Richardson, the bowling has variety and depth and all in all makes for a very talented bunch of cricketers.

This friday promises to be one of the most anticpated games in the history of the colts section at Cookham Dean Cricket Club and we can only hope that paddy and boys answer our prays and slay down Royal Ascot.
