1ST XI GO TOP OF THE LEAGUE

30 May 2011

The 1st XI went top of Division 3B after a six wicket win over NPL Teddington at Ricketts Field. NPL won the toss and chose to bat but were soon struggling as Chris Nunn ran through the top order. NPL's numbers 7 and 8 provided some resistance however before Sav Gandesha wrapped up the tail to bowl the visitors out for 156.

Cookham lost early wickets in their chase but any doubts will soon ended with Tom Bibby and Tom Wells-Cole batted confidently to take their side to victory. Next week the 1s face fellow early pace-setters, North Maidenhead 2s.

The 2nd and 3rd XI's both fell to comfortable defeats to Datchet 2nds and 4ths respectively. The 2nds briefly threatened to win when they had Datchet 30-4 chasing 106 but powerful hitting from their number six saw them claim an easy six wicket win.

Both Sunday sides picked up wins. The Sunday 1s game saw Aaron O'Donoghue (1st XI number 11, number 10 if quick runs needed) smash 94, outscoring Patrick Castleden who made 289. A quick 27 not out from Justin Rodgie saw them post 289 for 4. Theale and Tilehurst never looked likely to threaten that despite 100 from Wigmore. Wickets were shared around with Mike Cutting taking two as Theale ended on 217 for 6.

The Sunday 2s won a thriller at Hawridge and Cholesbury by 1 run. Cookham made 180 all out with Rob Mettler making 43 and Oli Dandridge making 36. Mettler was also the pick of the bowling attack with 3-25 as a run out off the final ball saw Cookham claim a win by the tightest of margins.
