ROYAL ASCOT TOO GOOD FOR FIRST TEAM

05 Jul 2009

The first team lost for the third team this season, as they were defeated by Royal Ascot 1s by 4 wickets. Batting first, Cookham made 226-8 in 52 overs, with Tom Bibby top-scoring with 70. Sav Gandesha (48) and the in-form Christian Austin (43*) both made useful contributions.

Royal Ascot were 119-0 in reply, and looked to be cruising to victory, however Sav Gandesha, taking his first five-wicket haul in the Thames Valley League, got Cookham back into the game. But an unbeaten knock of 63 by Ascot number four Matt Weston took the game away from Cookham as Ascot ran out winners by 4 wickets with 5 overs to spare.

With 3 defeats in the last 4, we now sit in 5th place in the league. Next up is bottom of the table Reading 3s.
