DEAN CONTINUE UNBEATEN LEAGUE START

25 May 2009

Both Cookham sides sit in 3rd place in TVL 3B and 6A respectively after another unbeaten league weekend.

The 1st XI triumphed at Marlow Park by 74 runs with Tom Bibby and Pres Patel playing starring roles. The Dean were asked to bat first and with the ball moving around the top order were removed in quick succession. The partnership between Bibby and Jake Richardson proved key however as they began to take the game from the home side. Richardson struck 49 while Bibby made his first league century to finish on 113 not out with his side posting 236-9. Pres Patel quickly removed the Park top order with the old ball and despite some resistance from the middle/lower order the Dean ultimately claimed a comfortable victory.

The 2nds cruised to an eight wicket win against Caversham and Redingensians. The visitors came out of the blocks unsurprisingly rapidly but wickets soon fell at a quick rate. There were three wickets for Andy Pett while Mike Cutting claimed the remarkable figures of 4-2 from 3.2 overs. The home side never looked like losing and despite losing Brooks (18) and D'Ardenne (30) cruised home with plenty of time to spare. The Glover brothers finished not out with Guy making 49 and Shaun 27.
