FEEBLE DEAN CRASH TO BRAYWOOD DEFEAT

19 Apr 2009

A weak batting performance from Cookham Dean saw them crash out of the Village Cup to old Chilterns League rivals Braywood. Braywood batted first and after a strong looking start, collapsed to 151 all out. Sav Gandesha was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 6-23 from 9 overs.

Cookham's innings never got going as they struggled against Braywood's accurate seam bowling. Only Ben Millar and Tom Bibby managed to make double figures. Dean skipper Pres Patel will be looking for a rapid improvement with only two friendlies to go before the league season kicks off.

Saturday saw a dramatic victory for Cookham over Ruislip. Ruislip made 190-5 from their 40 overs with Mike Cutting claiming 3-29. Cookham batted slowly in response and looked destined to lose until Imran Butt came to the crease. He smashed the ball to all parts and finished with 85 not out as his side won off the last ball by 5 wickets.
