UMPIRING TALK ON 18th MARCH

15 Feb 2009

There will be an umpiring course (more of a 3 hour evening session) for Wed 18 March starting at 7:00 for 7:30 in the club house.

Trevor Woodage from the West Surrey Association of Umpires will host a presentation of umpiring. This presentation is structured but Trevor would welcome any questions or observations on any aspect of umpiring. the session is aimed at all those involved in a cricket match - umpires, managers, captains and players. We are aiming at umpires managing our league games as well as Sunday players who have to umpire for 10-20 overs in the afternoon and also colts parents who would be called on to umpire the colts games. Trevor is an experienced, high level umpire who regularly umpires 40-60 matches a season at a level of home Counties Premier League

There will be a focus on the following:

LBW law
Ownership of the popping crease
Game management - over rate, noise, recording, communication
Handling and pre-empting conflict

Any other topics can be fed through to me and we can add them to the presentation

Overall - the aim is to give everyone concerned the confidence to want to umpire a game or even a short session.

It would be great to see as many players, members and colts parents attending as possible!
