1ST XI CLINCH THAMES VALLEY LEAGUE TITLE WITH GAME TO SPARE

26 Aug 2018

On Saturday the 1st XI clinched the Thames Valley Cricket League Division One title with a game to spare after a comfortable seven wicket win away to nearest challengers Cove. The league title has been built on the outstanding bowling of Sri Lankan overseas spinner Sahan Nanayakkara who has taken 69 wickets at a remarkable 9.78. There have, however, been notable successes elsewhere in the side. Wasim Ahmed (33 wickets) and Yasir Qureshi (23) have provided the bulk of the support with the ball while Sim Mangat  has taken his 13 wickets at an even better average than Sahan's! Chris Marrow is the side's leading run-scorer with 443 so far while Patrick Castleden and Tom Fray and both passed 300.The club congratulates all 17 players to have represented the 1st XI this season!

With one match still to play, the team's record this season has been played 17, won 12, lost 4 (3 of them by the finest of margins) and one abandoned. The result means that we will be competing in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League in 2018, which we last played in during the 2016 season.
