1ST XI MAKE WINNING START TO SEASON

Cookham Dean made a winning start to the season, as they won by 65 runs at Wargrave.

Patrick Castleden was the star man on the day, as he hit 63 before bowling an economical spell of 4 overs 1-9 including the wicket of Wargrave captain Neal Robinson. Him and Yasir Qureshi's (5-23) spells proved decisive after Wargrave had made a promising start in pursuit of 250 in 45 overs, with the game seemingly hanging in the balance until the final 15 overs.

Chris Marrow, batting at 3 to accommodate the returning Castleden, had also hit 65

With overseas spinner Sahan Nanayakkare touching down in the country on Tuesday and several others expected to make their first appearance of the season in the next couple of weeks, the club are looking well placed ahead of the new season
