Match report After a number of friendlies we finally played our Berks league match Pinkneys Green, who were looking to complete an unbeaten league season, and it was very much a game of four halves!

We won the toss and chose to bat. In the first half of our innings, we struggled to score against some tight line-and-length bowling. Joel (11), Guy (25) and Sashank (11) hung in there though and we reached the 10-over mark on 37-1. In the second half of our innings we used the wickets in hand to up the scoring rate considerably against the second string PG bowlers with Johnny (11), Harry (25no) and Jack (11no) finding the boundary on a regular basis. With 89 runs coming from the second 10 overs, we finished on 126-4, a good score in light of the slow outfield.

In the first half of PG's innings, they were also cautious against some tight bowling but held on to their wickets, managing 56-0 at the 10-over mark - ahead of where we were but still needing to score at 7.1 runs per over to reach the target. It looked like being a tight finish. Then Johnny and Sashank came on to bowl. Pinkneys wilted in the face of a series of full straight fast balls aimed at their stumps. Johnny took 4 for 4, including a hat-trick, and Sashank 3 for 2 in a devastating period that also included a run-out by Joel. That only left Freddie (2 for 3) to clean up the tail and complete an unlikely win by 56 runs as Pinkneys went from 60-0 to 70 all out.

We have one league match left, against Boyne Hill A on 23 August. BH will be gunning for a win that would take them to the top of the table ahead of PG, but I'm sure we'll have other ideas.
