Match report With regular Captain Isaac taking a well deserved break to escape the media spotlight, ex Captain James Taylor took the helm for this match against local rivals White Waltham.

Cookham batted first and Mettler started blazing away with a flurry of impressive cut shots, however it came to an abrupt end when he holed out for 37. Lashvein who had batted steadily was then joined by Luke Cairns as Taylor ensured he towed the "Central Commitee Party Line" and indulged the youth. Both of these youngsters came a cropper on 13 before Dave Brooks came in and played a steady hand . Unfortunately howeever, Taylor's much vaunted middle order collapsed like a pack of cards, this was not helped by the arrival of the "exiled" Simon D'Ardenne who turned up out of nowhere to umpire and gleefully preside over the disaster, particulalry enjoying triggering Brooksy for 35.

Set 148 to win, Taylor unleased 1st XI bowler James Le Fleming who along with Yeshau Bhatti smashed through the top order (mainly children) and before we knew it Waltham were 21 for 5. It was however painfully obvious that they had reversed the order as Mogla (22) steadied the ship and despite 2 wickets for debutant northerner Peter Manchester ( one to watch), Cookham were unable to get past the excellent 9th wicket partnership of Dewan (36) and Thomas ( 45) who managed to steer the visitors home.

A fun game played in good spirits.
