Farnham Common 3 v Cookham Dean Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sun 30 Aug 2020 at 12.30pm
Cookham Dean Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report A fantastic game of cricket was played between Farnham Common and Cookham Dean, notable for the fact it was a league game played on a Sunday.
Winning the toss, skipper Jonny Gay put the home team into bat and Cookham made early inroads with two quick wickets from Ollie Taylor. Niese and Nazir steadied the ship with the latter looking a real threat as he drove powerfully. Turning to spin, Louie Stewart proved a little expensive but picked up the wicket of Niese bringing Amaghan to the crease. The fifth wicket partnership batted well, however the in form James Milligan bowled Nazir for 43 which brought a succession of swinging lower order batsman to the crease who tried to advance the score. Two more wickets for James (3-32) and another for the excellent Ollie (3-29) meant that Farnham set a very competitive total of 188 on a slow pitch with an even slower outfield.
Cookhams reply got off to a disastrous start, with Wells-Cole, Isbell and and Gay all going cheaply and following a swing bowing masterclass from the canny Anjum (2-16 from ten overs), Cookham were way behind the eight ball at the half way stage. What happened next was a joy to behold as Clive Lamden upped the pace and tore into the bowling with some big clean hitting. He was ably supported by Louis, who patiently batted with real maturity, picking the gaps and rotating the strike. As the overs ticked off and the score came down, Louie fell for 30 followed quickly by Maroudas which brought Alfie Agar to the crease with Clive bringing up his century shortly afterwards. At twelve runs short of the target, Khan ( who had bowled well) "mankadded" Clive without warning ( something rarely seen in local cricket), however following outrage from umpire Taylor, Farnham skipper Ahmad to his credit called him back and with 5 needed from the last over, Clive leathered an enormous six to win the game and send the Cookham team into ""cockakoop delight. Finishing on 119 not out it was a truly magnificient innings and without doubt the most satisfying victory the 3rd XI have enjoyed in a very long time.
An exhausted Clive will be spending the next week glued to the sofa and contacting everyone in his address book to give them a ball by ball account of his "big day out"!
Roll on next week and Chenies.
