Match report A very exciting game of cricket to kick off the season.

Having lost the toss and been put in to bat, Rugved (30 retired) and Henry (13) got us off to a very strong start with an opening partnership of 38 runs. Rugved went on to have good partnerships with Eddie (16) and Harrison (9). We then had a clatter of wickets in the final over, where we lost 3 wickets and only scored one run, but a score of 104 for 8 on a lively wicket with a large outfield seemed like a good defendable score.

When Ballinger replied, the boys bowled well and had them in some trouble at 23 for 4 and continued to take wickets at frequent intervals. However the tail did not crumble and doggedly put runs on the board until they needed 4 runs to win with only 1 wicket left in the final over. Henry bowled brilliantly, but despite some close calls for run outs the Ballinger boys just crept over the line with 1 wicket and 1 ball to spare.

Well done to all the boys on a great performance, which earned them 9 bonus points - not that far short of the 15 points Ballinger got for the win. Everyone played well, but a particular call-out to Henry for batting and bowling so well and taking a blinder of a catch to get rid of their best batter, to Rugved for an excellent undefeated innings of 30 runs, to Finn for taking 3 wickets, and to James for doing a great job as captain - very vocal and tactically aware.
