Match report Congratulations to the boys, who are well-deserved Division 2 league champions after another all-round strong display today to defeat a good Binfield side comfortably.

Binfield won the toss and put us into bat on a good pitch with very long boundaries at Falkland CC. James (45), George (10) and Will (17) got us off to a solid start with sound technique against the spinners taking us to a position of 74 for 1 after the first 11 overs. We then started losing wickets at frequent intervals, but Iwan (31 n.o.) showed great composure in holding one end up and then playing some attacking strokes towards the end. With Oli and Iwan taking 14 runs from the final over bowled by the county spinner Kam Khanna, we finished on a very creditable 127 for 8 off the 20 overs. This was in the face of some impressively tight bowling (only one wide bowled), and a lot of spin which has been a weakness at times in the past.

When Binfield batted the boys fielded well -- sharp to the ball and backing each other up to make scoring very tough. George (1 for 11), James (2 for 14), Matt (1 for 4) and Will (2 for 22) combined to reduce Binfield to 54 for 6 after 14 overs, with George taking the key wicket of Dan Humphrey, who recently got a good score against our under-19s, with a yorker. The rest of the team then took turns to bowl with the Ben bowling a maiden, Sam taking 2 wickets (among some other deliveries!) and Paul taking a wicket for the second match running. At the end of their allotted overs Binfield were on 88 for 9, a win for Cookham by 39 runs.

Well done to the whole squad - the boys have been an absolute pleasure to manage and watch this season. They have supported each other and shown true teamwork and everyone has contributed, including several under-13s players who helped fill the gaps in a couple of matches. And we did it despite injuries depriving us the services of Joseph, Zac, Matt, Liam and James M at various times during the season.
