Cookham Dean Cricket Club 3rd XI v Chenies and Latimer 2 on Sat 05 Sep 2020 at 11.30am
Cookham Dean Cricket Club Won by 112 runs
Match report
Cookham Dean continued their fine run of form with a convincing 112 victory over Chenies and Latimer.
Put into bat, the Dean suffered early losses and were 3 down quite early with Higginbotham executing a really disciplined spell, conceding just 24 from 10 overs. This brought Lamden and Richards to the crease who batted superbly for a 100 plus partnership, Taine agonisingly being out for 49. As with last week, in form Clive batted like a man possesed and the stalwarts of Chenies had no answer as he bashed it to all parts, including one delightful six that shattered a chair! The bowling and fielding became wragged as Clive filled his boots and made another unbeaten century, supported by Alfie (16 not out), who is now becoming the "Robin" to Clive's batman.
Set a target of 234 to win, Chenies never looked liked they were in it and wickets fell steadily and were spread around. Louis Stewart was the pick with an excellent 4 for 23, seasoned stalwart James Taylor also picked up his 200th TVL wicket. There was also an amazing run out from the TVL's smallest player, James Isbell. A little dogged resistance from the lower order was evident as Chenies dragged the match out to the final ove, r with their score on 121. Sensing that there was only one man to turn to, Skipper Gay gave the ball to the man of the hour Clive, who promptly had the last batsman trapped LBW to seal the win, ...................when you're hot, you're hot!
Fending off reporters and fans (well taine's Mum and James Isbell's Dad), an emotional Clive dedicated his victory to his young son, who has selflessly been made to give his Dad two hours of throw downs every day in the back garden under threat of not being given his tea.
The big question now is can Clive complete the hattrick next week against Ruislip?
Come on the threes.
