Match report In their first game of the season, Cookham Dean enjoyed a comfortable victory in a friendly against Little Marlow. The match was played in sad circumstances, with the players observing a minute’s silence for 22 year-old Cookham Dean player Mark D’Ardenne, who was tragically killed in a road accident the previous week.

Cookham won the toss, chose to bat first and made 255-6 in their 40 overs. In reply they were able to restrict the hosts to just 171-6, giving Cookham an 84-run win. Cookham Dean had Nishal Patel to thank as he hit an impressive knock of 93, and he was helped by Rory Millar (33), Imran Butt (46*) and Christian Austin (28) who all contributed to the total. 255 was always going to be a hard total for Little Marlow to reach and it wasn’t helped by a tidy opening spell by Richard Bibby, giving away just 4 runs in 7 overs. Bath (57) batted well and upped the run-rate but when he was unluckily run out, the game was all but over. Hussain (40*) and Findlay (25*) had a good partnership towards the end but it was too little, too late as Cookham won by 84 runs.
