Match report The boys completed back-to-back victories on consecutive nights with a win against Farnham Royal that was closer in the end than it looked like being for most of the match. A big shout out to our younger team members Alfie and Matt who contributed hugely to the win. Credit too to Ryan Hughes who helped with the fielding at short notice and did a great job in the field.

Farnham won the toss and put Cookham in to bat. With Iwan anchoring the innings while JLF, Freddie and Will looked to hit out we got off to a fast start but lost wickets regularly. When Iwan was out at the beginning of the 8th over we were on 48 for 4 and in danger of running out of wickets. But in came Alfie Agar to play his first match for the under-15s at the age of 11, and played with great skill and maturity to put on 43 with Liam and then another 23 with another debutant - Matt Dempster (12) to take us up to a total of 114 for 6 off our 20 overs.

Matt Dilley and Lewis kept it tight at the beginning of Farnham's reply, with the umpire displaying a heart of stone to resist two impassioned pleas for LBW by Matt. The Dempster brothers then bowled nicely in tandem picking up two wickets each and JLF and Oli took up the reins such that with 3 overs left Farnham were on 75 for 7, needing an unlikely 40 to win from the final 3 overs. With Alex playing well and hitting boundaries, however, they managed to get to 19 behind with one over left, prompting memories of the T20 World Cup final. Freddie was made of sterner stuff than Ben Stokes though and bowled a sensible line and length to bring home the victory by 10 runs.
