Match report A thrilling high-scoring match came down to the final ball in a fitting conclusion to the season.

Having been put in to bat, Ascot struggled against good line-and-length bowling and regularly lost wickets. However we were not as tight in the field as we can be, and 8 dropped catches and some missed balls in the field cost us and they eventually were all out off the final ball for 143, a very tough target to chase. Pick of the bowlers was Duncan with 3 for 16.

In reply, we got off to a great start - Freddie (30 ret'd) anchored the innings while James (34 ret'd) and Alfie (19) played the big shots - and we had scored half the required runs without loss off the first 7 overs. Although the scoring rate declined after Alfie was out, sensible batting put us in a great position needing just 9 runs off the final 2 overs with 7 wickets in hand. However their two spinners bowled an exceptional couple of overs and despite brave batting from Ben and Tom at the end, we finished an agonising one run short on 142 for 6. Still, it was our highest total of the season and the boys should be proud of their efforts.
