Cookham Dean Cricket Club Friendly 1st XI v Eversley on Sun 28 Jun 2015 at 2pm
Cookham Dean Cricket Club Won by 123 runs

Match report Cookham Dean recorded an impressive victory over Eversley in an entertaining and eventful match at the home of cricket on sunday. As sure as the sun rises in the east, Cookham won the toss and elected to bat with possibly the horriblest opening partnership in history (D'Ardenne and Taylor) strolling out to the middle. Eversley bowled well, assisted by a lively pitch (which I am sure had nothing to do with Stringer) but after an initially watchful period the batsman got stuck in and both made excellent fifties. When Taylor was eventually out caught at point for 68, Simon soon followed (69) as he could not keep going without his more dashing and adventurous partner. With a great platform set by this opening stand of 135, the remaining Cookham Dean batsman had license to tee off and following notable contributions from the Harvey brothers Alex(45) and Tom (22), Eversley were set the imposing target of 260.
After a fine tea made by Elizabeth, the visitors got off to a decent start before Alex Harvey made the breakthrough bowling Edwards and following up with a first baller for Dixon but unfortunately could not seal the deal on the hatrick. Carl Slater had bowled well without reward but after a spate of no balling was replaced by Jonathan Gay (Carl was later seen talking to a shady looking character called "John" after the match), who proceeded to bowl a spell of tricks and such canniness that the bamboozled batters fell in droves, Jonathan proudly finished with figures of 5 for 42. Eversley were in deep trouble after Alex(3 for 36) snared the wicket of Last for 32 after a quite breathtaking catch from the evergreen and whippet like Taylor, who after diving to his left to cling onto a fizzing nut had to leave the field for urgent medical attention to his bruised and bleeding finger, luckily Nurse Helen was there to patch him up and give him a hug. D'Ardenne snared a cheap wicket (as usual) and the 123 run victory was sealed with the last wicket falling to a poor run out.
Interviewed after the match, Simon D'ardenne said that he was inspired by having such a cavalier player who helped him finally get past 35, he also mentioned how embarrassed and ashamed he was at the incident where he appeared to trip Taylor intentionally in mid running, putting it down to jealousy coupled with a hint of homoerotic desire.
Alex Harvey was later seen signing autographs for a bevy of female teenage fans...........Taylor commenting that he feels Alex with his all round talent could be the long awaited "new me" !!
