Kew v Cookham Dean Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 30 May 2015 at 1pm
Cookham Dean Cricket Club Won by 52 runs

Match report Godwill Mamhiyo inspired Cookham Dean to a 52 run win at champions Kew on Saturday.

After good batting early on by Ben Millar (26), Yasir Quereshi (37) and Clive Lambden (16) to lay a solid platform early on, reaching 79-1 on a bowler friendly wicket, Mamhiyo went on the offensive during a run a ball 59. It had looked as though the visitors were on track for a big total as they reached 164-5. However, the returning Kidron Thomas made short work of the Dean's lower order as he finished with 4-39, to bundle Cookham out for 178

This always looked a challenging target on a track offering excessive turn, especially once Mamhiyo had had both openers caught and bowled. However, Will Shaw (25) and Toby Raper (32) looked accomplished in moving the score to 60-2, before young first team debutant leg-spinner Liam Haines was thrown the ball and made an immediate impact, having Shaw caught on the long-on boundary. Once Mamhiyo returned to the attack, the result never looked in much doubt as he ran through the hosts remaining batsmen to end with a remarkable 8-33.

Cookhams season suffered a setback on Sunday however, when they allowed Pinkneys Green to chase down 267 inside 40 overs to bundle them out of the National Village Cup.

The day started well for Cookham as Ben Millar and Kurran Mangat had top-scored with 89 and 67* respectively. Asif was the only Pinkneys bowler who truly stemmed the flow of runs, as he took 1-25 from his 8 overs.

Cookham did take two early wickets in reply, but Chris Hayes ((60), Butt (67), Jags Dhillon (27), Asif (41) and Dillon Khan (30) all put Cookham's make-shift bowling attack to the sword, as they chased down their target with a scampered single from the final ball of the innings with three wickets left in hand
