Match report The season opener saw a tight low scoring match with a close finish take place at Hillingdon Manor on sunday. Put into bat on the stickiest of sticky dogs, ten -man Cookham were reduced to 37 for seven in quick time following strong spells of bowling by Read and Singh. However an excellent patnership of 70 between first team fast bowler Aaron O'Donaghue (45) and Satpal Singh Madhan(24) ensured that a mildly respectable total of 108 was posted. Aaron O'Donaghue then got his bowling boots on as the Dean struck early, however Malik and the stoic Hodgson looked to be providing a steady platform before Malik was caught via a full bunger from Barratt. Barratt took two more and Taylor executed a tidy four wicket spell to leave the visitors looking the likely winners, however some calm and decisive batting from Bhatt and Read sealed the honours for Hillingdon, despite several poor miscatches.
Skipper Taylor was pragmatic and took the positives from the game remarking - " the only way is up from here" !!
