Cookham Dean Cricket Club Won by 101 runs

Match report Cookham Dean won back the John Platt Trophy from local rivals Holyport after a dominant display at Ricketts Field. Holyport won the toss and put Cookham in and soon lost key man Tom Bibby as he chipped one to mid-wicket off stalwart seam bowler Kirby. Jake Richardson got off the mark with a six but fell not long after to the spin of Hayes, while in-form youngster Greg Davis fell the very next ball to one that scuttled along the ground. Dave Brooks departed soon after too for 40 and it was left to Rory Millar and 14 year old Joe Beams to form a rebuilding job for The Dean. They initially started slowly but eventually settled into a rhythm, picking up the 1s and 2s when struggling to hit boundaries. Beams eventually fell for 43, caught and bowled by Jonti Pajwani while Millar powered on to his first 50 of the season. He finished on 64 not out and ended the innings with a 6 to take the home side to a decent 196 for 5 from their 40 overs.

Cookham skipper Arun Brar (3-15) removed Price in the third over and Taylor followed soon after as Holyport's innings got off to a disastrous start. Christian Austin gave Pajwani a working over before he eventually played at one too many to edge to Jonathan Gay who took a good catch a first slip low down to his right. The game drifted with Chris Morgan and Cox looking difficult to dismiss but unable to break the shackles of some disciplined Cookham bowling. Gay (3-19) and Brar eventually removed these two while Tom Bibby (2-13) and Greg Davis (1-0) also chipped in as Holyport's tail failed to wag and they were dismissed for a paltry 95.
