Marlow v Cookham Dean Cricket Club Friendly 1st XI on Sun 27 May 2012 at 2pm
Cookham Dean Cricket Club Won by 33 runs

Match report Kayode Pantophlet struck his first Cookham Dean hundred in an entertaining Sunday derby against Marlow. Cookham skipper Arun Brar won a crucial toss in the sunshine and elected to bat on what looked like a belter of a wicket. Tom Bibby and Ben Millar made a bright start against Glenford Boyce and Smith with runs flowing off the bat with regularity. They put on 90 in 16 overs with Millar passing 50 along the way. Bibby was the first to go as he hit one to mid-wicket off Leigh Atkinson to fall for 34. Millar fell five overs later for 72, his highest score of the season so far, which brought Raza Jaura to the crease. Jaura was in typically swashbuckling form and struck 35 in a partnership of 89 in only 7 overs with Pantophlet. Joe Beams impressed with 8 in a partnership of 35 with Pantophlet in his first ever senior game. The Bajan all-rounder was in supreme form and was finding the boundary with ease. There was one moment of controversy however when after striking a four behind square on the leg side a bail became dislodged from the stumps. With neither umpire, batsman or Marlow fielders able to categorically say what had happened he batted on and brought up his century in the final over as Cookham closed on 279-5 off 40 overs.

Aaron O'Donoghue had Paskins caught down the leg side off his first ball as Marlow lost a key batsman early on in the chase. This brought Boyce to the crease who struck a impressive half century in rapid time. Brar introduced himself into the attack which slowed down the scoring and he had Riddell (24) and Boyce (60) removed in quick succession to leave Marlow 97-3 in the 18th over. Brar claimed two further wickets to finish with 4-30 as Marlow fell further and further behind the run rate. Some impressive hitting from Atkinson (72 not out) and Peel (32) gave Marlow a very slim chance of victory but once Pantophlet had Peel stumped any chance of a win for the home side appeared to evaporate. They went fighting though with plenty of lusty blows to finish on 247 for 7 to complete a run-fest of a Sunday game!
