Cookham Dean Cricket Club 3rd XI v Datchet 4 on Sat 16 Jun 2012 at 1pm
Match was Drawn
Match report
For the second week running Cookham Dean 3rd XI had to settle for a better of a draw after a solid all round display against Datchet 4th XI. Datchet won the toss on a green wicket at Odney but despite some early assistance for the away side's opening bowlers, Cookham's Jonathan Gay and Shaun Miller made a decent start for their side. They put on 61 before Miller crashed one straight back at the bowler who deflected it back on to the stumps at the non-striker's end to run out the Cookham captain for 20. This brought Andy Murdoch to the crease and he and Miller shared a stand of 114 in 20 overs as Cookham looked to post an imposing total. Miller fell for 75 however guiding a catch to the Datchet keeper Furness off the impressive spin bowling of youngster Edger. Mike Cutting and Bertie Kennedy fell in quick succession but Murdoch continued to pile on the runs while Graham Wilson (28 not out) contributed a useful cameo. Murdoch brought up his century two overs from the end to end on 108 not out as Cookham Dean posted 265 for 4 from 52 overs.
John Smith and Bertie Kennedy quickly hit their straps as they looked to rip through the Datchet batting lineup. Smith bowled a firey opening spell of 11 overs 3-9 to help leave Datchet in disarray at 19 for 5. This meant the away side decided to shut up shop and despite Cookham rotating their bowlers, they couldn't take the wickets required to give them a 25 point win. Datchet's skipper Andy Wilson made 48 as they finished on 88 for 6 off 48 overs.
