Eastcote 4 v Cookham Dean Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 26 May 2012 at 1pm
Cookham Dean Cricket Club Lost by 8 wickets
Match report
Cookham Dean were comprehensivley beaten by a strong Eastcote batting lineup on Saturday in Division 9b. Cookham won the toss and chose but lost skipper Jonathan Gay in the 4th over for 1 as he was bowled off his pads by Phillips. This brought Darren Davies to the crease and he and Mark Kirton began to set the foundations for the innings before Kirton was run out for 10. Davies combined with Andy Murdoch and after a quiet start began to push the visitors towards a strong total. Murdoch hit three 6s in his innings of 34 while Davies was particularly brutal through the off-side and struck 18 4s in his innings of 88. He fell in slightly comical fashion when top edging a long hop off Stevens into the gloves of the Eastcote keeper. Their dismissals led to a mini-collapse from The Dean but Michael James (37 not out) provided an entertaining finish to the innings as Cookham ended on 234-8 from their 52 overs.
On a good wicket and with Eastcote's impressive batting line-up, this never looked likely to be enough. Talpahaw (34) and skipper James Mans tore into anything short from John Smith and Isaac Richardson and the runs flowed quickly with boundaries galore. Mark Anderson broke the partnership on 85 but this only accelerated the innings as Wilkins (55) struck the ball down the ground with real purpose. He was eventually bowled by Jonathan Gay but Mans brought his century up soon after with support from Tony Norris (23 not out) as Eastcote cruised home with more than 10 overs spare.
