Maidenhead and Bray 3 v Cookham Dean Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 02 Jul 2011 at 1pm
Cookham Dean Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
James Taylor was the star for Cookham Dean 2nds against Maidenhead and Bray 3s as his canny spell helped skittle Bray for 141 before the Dean batsmen guided their side to an eight wicket win.
Cookham skipper Jake Richardson won the toss and put the home side in at the Jubilee ground. Richard Bibby made early inroads with a couple of early wickets at the Dean looked to avenge the defeat they suffered here on the final day of the 2010 season. At 90odd-3, Bray would have been reasonably satisfied with their progress but they hadn't counted on the introduction of Taylor.
His introduction sparked a collapse as he removed Asghar (21) and Burkhari (32) before hoovering up the tail with some skill. None of the bottom five in the order made double figures and three of them made ducks in what many observers described as a masterclass of canny operating. He eventually finished with figures of 9-1-29-7, two of these wickets through sharp catches in the gully by Mike Cutting, as Bray were all out for 141. Number 6, Parsons, was left stranded on 26 not out.
Dave Brooks made 21 quickly before Jake Richardson joined Arun Brar for an obdurate display of batting. Brar, who is currently under pressure for his place in the side from a painted wheely bin, lasted over 30 overs for his 26. Richardson also struggled for a while but eventually began to free his arms and once the change bowlers came on, he and Christian Austin were striking the ball nicely. Richardson finished on 43 not out and Austin 39 not out as they picked up a comfortable 8 wicket win.
