CLUB MAKES WINNING START TO 2011

11 Apr 2011

Cookham Dean got off to a winning start for the 2011 season as they completed a comfortable seven wicket victory at a sunny Little Marlow on Saturday.

The hosts batted first and quicky slumped to around 50-5 thanks to the seam bowling of Isaac Richardson, Chris Nunn and Richard Bibby. Grey and Bath led a recovery though which saw Little Marlow post a solid 174 for 6 from their 40 overs. Nunn the pick of the bowlers with 3-32 from his 9 overs.

Cookham had little trouble in chasing their target as skipper Ben Millar and Tom Wells-Cole put on over 100 for the first wicket. Wells-Cole was eventually run out for 46 by a direct hit which triggered a mini collapse as Millar (73) and Joel Richardson (3) followed soon after. Rory Millar looked in fine touch as he made 20 not out, accompanied by Tom Bibby who finished on 16 as Cookham claimed a pleasing win in their first outing of the season.
