DISASTROUS WEEK FOR THE DEAN

16 Jun 2010

Cookham Dean's senior sides suffered five straight defeats in a week that also saw their 3rd XI fixture called off due to lack of availability.

It started badly on Tuesday as Cookham crashed out of the Julian Cup to Holyport and Thursday night saw another Twenty20 hammering dished out by Windsor.

The Saturday 1st XI were dismissed for a poor 116 with only Ben Millar providing any serious resistance. Despite this, the bowlers put up an encouraging display as Wooburn Narks won by four wickets.

The 2nds posted 208-9 on a good wicket at Falkland with Christian Austin top scoring with 70. Despite taking some early wickets, a big fourth wicket partnership took the game away from the Dean and Falkland 3s won by 5 wickets to keep the 2nd team in the relegation zone.

Sunday saw a Cookham side again slide to Holyport. Cookham could only muster 112 despite at one stage being 103-5 as the lower order quickly succumbed to the Holyport spinners. The result was never in doubt and the visitors cruised to a 7 wicket win with 19 overs remaining.
