Steve Rouse, the former Edgbaston groundsman for Warwickshire & England, returned to Ricketts Field this week after last visiting four years ago and had high price for the 'massive improvement' made. Since his last visit, our groundsman Maz Razzaq, has been in regular contact for advice from Steve. He said that the square was 'an absolute credit to the club' and was 'truly magnificent', comparing it favourably to Knowle & Dorridge CC, a strong club in the Birmingham Premier League.
Highlighting the hard work that Maz has been putting in he stated that he was confident that the square would continue to improve and noted that it despite it being August it 'looks like it's hardly been played on.' Steve summarised the ideal cricket wicket has having pace, bounce and carry, with an evening covering of thick, fine grass required to achieve this. Overall he gave the square a 9.5/10 and he hopes to visit for a Saturday match in the future.
