Cookham Dean Cricket Club News story

JEANNE TURNER

28 Jun 2022

The club is very sad to announce that long-standing club member Jeanne Turner has recently died. She had been associated with the club since the 1970s and her husband, Tony, played for the club at Cricket Common, Cookham Dean. A few years later both her sons, Mark and Michael also played for the club, as did her grandson, Jack.

The club had no proper coaches to help young players, but to introduce youngsters to the game Jeanne started summer evening programmes of simple training to allow youngsters under 11 simply to enjoy the game and from this modest beginning evolved our proper coaching programme.

After our move from the Dean, Jeanne was often a spectator at matches and at Christmas time would entertain members with a visit from her handbell ringers. She must have been associated with the Club for more than fifty years.

Her funeral will be on Tuesday 5th July 11.30am at Chilterns Crematorium, Amersham, Milton Chapel. And afterwards from 12.45pm at Cookham Dean Cricket Club to celebrate her life.

Please wear colour to celebrate her bright and happy life.
