Cookham Dean Cricket Club – COVID 19 Update

These are tough and difficult times where we are anxious for the health and wellbeing of those we care for, and where we are concerned as to what the future might hold. As a community focussed club, we have to be mindful of the role we have in helping people through that anxiety and also ensuring we are prepared when something resembling normality returns to our lives. We also have to act responsibly and with the safety of that community in mind

As a result of these factors, and following the advice received from the England & Wales Cricket Board, it is with regret that we will have to close our facilities (including the clubhouse, ground and nets) with immediate effect. Please note that this includes Sunday afternoon indoor nets at St Pirans. In addition, we have decided to delay our plan for a new pavilion by at least a year. We politely request that you respect this closure.

At this stage, it is unclear when – of indeed if – the 2020 season will commence. As a Club, we will continue to maintain the ground and keep the pavilion ready for use when that day arrives. In addition, over the coming days and weeks, we will be trying to find a safe way that our outdoor spaces can be utilised. It is recognised that exercise will remain an important requirement for people’s mental and physical well being and we will want to play our part in that, without exposing users to unnecessary risk.

We will also be working behind the scenes to launch our new membership and communication software and we will be in touch to encourage you to use some of your spare moments to register so that we can keep in touch with you all easily and effectively.

We are fortunate that the Club has been run on a prudent basis over the years and we are confident that we will come out of this period in robust health and ready to play our role in getting people moving again.

In the meantime, please heed the advice we are being given, and be ready for the return of cricket soon

Stay safe
