The
Sunday Firsts had a laugh at the weekend beating the visiting Four
Candles comedians team by 89 runs The comics were captained by our own
Tom Rosenthal and included the internet sensation Thomas Grey,
Edinburgh festival winner Liam Williams and Comedy Store regular Gordon
Southern.
CDCC
batted first making 195 off 36.5 overs with Jonathan Gay top scoring on
69 and Jake Richardson hitting 31. Harrison Charles (3/17) was the
pick of the bowlers. The Comedians never looked like reaching the
target despite 45 from Bradley. Two wickets each for Razzaq, skipper
Isaac Richardson and Finlan.
What
they lacked in cricketing expertise they made up for in giggles in the
evening when they put on a brilliant comedy show ....a packed pavilion
enjoyed six comedians, MC’d by Tom, who relentlessly shamed our
President and his wife (Mum and Dad)..... The evening raised a sizeable
four figure sum for the building fund. One of the most relevant sets
was from Simon Clayton - late of Amersham Hill Cricket
Club which has sadly recently closed. He praised the community efforts
at CDCC and recognised the massive efforts from Sue and Andy Finlan and
the club committee to keep our club open and thriving.
A great night - which they threaten to repeat next year.....
